Congratulations! You're now the proud owner of a new Canopy Pickup Cam. Now, it's time to unbox your system and get set up. This section will guide you through each step to install the hardware in a pickup truck and begin exploring the features.
Here's how long you should expect each stage of the installation to take:
Charging the Battery
1. Remove the Battery
A. Use the Multi Purpose Trim Tool and T-8 Star Bit to remove the 4 screws securing the Battery Faceplate.
B. Lift and remove the Faceplate, then pull the orange tab to lift out the Battery.
2. Charge the Battery
Plug the Battery into the Power Adapter, then into a power outlet. Fully charge the battery, this will take about 4 hours.
3. Battery Charging Status
The LED Charging Indicator is located on the top rear of the battery.
The LED Charging Indicator will turn green within 30 seconds of being plugged into the Power Adapter.
The icons below explain how the LED will change as the battery charges.
4. Reinstall the Battery
A. Once the Battery has fully charged, insert it into the Canopy Hub.
B. Screw on the Faceplate, taking care not to over-tighten the screws.
Adhering the Mounting Template
5. Position the Mounting Template
The Mounting Template adheres to the rear window and helps you find the correct location for the Pickup Cam. Check whether your rear window has defroster lines, then follow the appropriate steps below:
If you DO have defroster lines:
A. Peel the liner from both 3M tape pieces on each side of the Mounting Template
B. Position the Mounting Template in the centre of the window
C. Align the defroster line marking on the Mounting Template with the top defroster line
D. Press the Mounting Template onto the glass
If you DON’T have defroster lines:
A. Peel the liner from both 3M tape pieces on each side of the Mounting Template
B. Position the Mounting Template in the centre of the window
C. Position the top of the Mounting Template 1.25 inches below the black border on the window
D. Press the Mounting Template onto the glass
6. Clean the Rear Window
Clean the area of glass inside the Mounting Template with the Alcohol Wipe provided, and wait for it to dry.
Mounting the Pickup Cam
7. Connect Camera Cable
A. Remove the Blue Cap from the port on the Pickup Cam.
B. Follow the diagram below to connect one end of the camera cable to the port. Align the keyways and then push to seat the cable into the Pickup Cam.
C. Secure the connection by screwing the collar on the Camera Cable onto the port. Ensure you don't cross thread the collar.
8. Remove Clear Protective Film and Adhesive Liner
A. Peel off and dispose of the clear protective film covering the LED strip.
B. Carefully remove the red 3M Adhesive Liner on the Pickup Cam.
9. Adhere the Pickup Cam
Place the Pickup Cam into the Mounting Template, adhesive facing the window.
With the Pickup Cam centred and level, press it firmly on to the window with both hands for 30 seconds, applying as much pressure as possible.
10. Remove the Mounting Template
Tear the Mounting Template at the indicated spot, and carefully remove it from around the Pickup Cam.
Connect the Pickup Cam to the Canopy Hub
11. Make room for the Canopy Hub
The Canopy Hub location depends on whether your vehicle has one or two rows of seats. Choose the column that matches your vehicle, and then place Canopy Hub accordingly.
12. Route the Camera Cable to the Canopy Hub
Camera Cable routing also depends on whether your vehicle has one or two rows of seats. Choose the column that matches your vehicle, then route the Camera Cable accordingly.
13. Tidying the Camera Cable
A. If you have a rear sliding window, leave some slack in the Camera Cable to allow the window to open and close freely.
B. Tuck the Camera Cable behind the headliner and trim panels, ensuring it’s not pinched. Use the Multi Purpose Trim Tool as needed and if necessary, secure the Camera Cable with the provided Cable Clips.
14. Connect the Camera Cable to the Canopy Hub
A. Remove the Blue Cap from the 01 port on the Canopy Hub.
B. Follow the diagram below to connect the camera cable to the 01 port. Align the keyways and then push to seat the cable into the Canopy Hub.
C. Secure the connection by screwing the collar on the Camera Cable onto the port. Ensure you don’t cross thread the collar.
Powering the Canopy Hub
15. Connect the Power Cable to the OBD-II Port
A. Locate the OBD-II Port, usually found on the driver’s side under the dashboard. For help finding your OBD-II Port, check your vehicle’s owner's manual.

B. Connect the Power Cable into the port.
16. Route the Power Cable
A. Route the Power Cable to the Canopy Hub along the floor between the door and drivers seat.
Use the Multi Purpose Trim Tool to tuck the cable behind floor and foot well trim as needed for a safe and tidy install.
B. Tuck the Power Cable behind the footwell and floor trim, ensuring it’s not pinched. Use the Multi Purpose Trim Tool as needed and if necessary, secure the Power Cable with the provided Cable Clips.
17. Connect the Power Cable to the Canopy Hub
A. Remove the Orange Cap from the port with the ‘Bolt’ icon on the Canopy Hub.
B. Connect the Power Cable into the ‘Bolt’ port, pushing firmly to seat the cable into the Canopy Hub.
C. Secure the connection by screwing the collar on the Power Cable onto the port. Ensure you don’t cross thread the collar.
Securing the Canopy Hub
18. Secure the Canopy Hub to your Vehicle Floor
If you have Carpet flooring:
A. The Canopy Hub has velcro hooks on the underside. Find a spot under the rear seat, then press the Canopy Hub, into the carpet to secure it.
B. If it’s not secure enough, proceed to the next step to use the provided adhesive Velcro Pads for better mounting.
If you have Vinyl or Plastic Flooring:
A. Stick the Velcro side of the Velcro Pads to the Velcro hooks on the underside of the Canopy Hub, then peel off the 3M adhesive liner.
B. Find a spot under the rear seat, then press the Canopy Hub onto the vinyl or plastic floor to secure it.
Final Safety Checks
19. Tidying Cables
A. Ensure the Power Cable is routed safely away from the driving pedals.
B. Check both the Camera Cable and Power Cable are tidied away and are clear of doorways to prevent trip hazards.
If needed, use the provided the Cable Clips and Velcro Loops to help tidy away excess cable length.
Installing the Canopy App
20. Download and Install the Canopy Security App
Now you’ve completed the hardware install of the Canopy Pickup Cam, you’re ready to finish setup in the Canopy Security App.

Once in the app, you can set up your Canopy Account and follow the guided final steps to compete set up of the Canopy Pickup Cam.
