How the Pickup Cam monitors activity

The Pickup Cam monitors inside and around your truck bed for suspicious activity using a combination of motion and intrusion detection. This article details how the camera reacts to different activity.

Motion Detection

Walking around your vehicle, you should notice that the Pickup Cam shines a white light. This means that your radar is detecting movement around your truck bed.

  • In daylight, a single LED serves as a deterrent by signaling that the vehicle is being monitored.
  • At night, the light bar fully illuminates like a flood light, improving the camera's visibility in the dark.

Intrusion Detection

Next, try reaching into your truck bed. When the camera spots a person inside the truck bed, the light bar will shine RED. This sends an alert to your phone and a recording of the incident will be available in the Canopy app. The camera will only alert you of intrusion events.

  • I'm just received my system for the BETA program.  Install was straight forward.  It took me a handful of times to get the hub to connect (Iphone 14 Pro) but once it did the connection is solid.  It would be great to have the option to get motion detection alerts.  Our truck is an F150 Lightning and on road trips we leave it on overnight so it can power our 12 fridge/freezer.  Since the truck is on the factory alarm system with motion detection is not active.  Having Canopy motion alerts would be great for our use.
