To power the Pickup Cam, the Hub charges its battery through your vehicle’s OBD-II port. This section explains more about how charging works for your Canopy system, and how to maximize your battery life.
- Drive at least 1 hour a day: This helps keep your Canopy Hub’s battery charged through the vehicle’s OBD-II port.
- Park in low-traffic areas: If possible, choose to park in areas with less pedestrian and vehicle movement. Any motion will trigger the camera's radar.
- Limit live streaming: Live streaming is energy-intensive. We recommend reserving it for situations like active intrusions or monitoring suspicious activity.
- Monitor temperature conditions: Extreme hot or cold temperatures can impact battery performance.
- Regularly check your battery percentage: Inside the Canopy app's device page, keep an eye on your battery levels and ensure it remains charged.
Charging the battery using the power adapter
The battery typically lasts around 48 hours on a full charge. However, if the battery fully drains, you will need to remove it and recharge it indoors using the provided power adapter.
Do not use a third-party USB-C charger to charge the battery, as it may reduce the battery's performance.
With these factors in mind, you can effectively manage your Canopy Hub's power usage and ensure it remains charged for continuous monitoring.
